Prayer breakfast May 18, 2008

This morning we had the privilege of hosting a prayer breakfast for some good friends of ours, John and Emily Jones.  The Jones family, which includes 4 precious children all 6 and under, is heading to Malawi to work at the health clinic of African Bible College.  Our family heard about the African Bible College while we were in seminary because our pastor was on the Board of Directors for the college.  John and Emily have always reflected a love for ministry- they met at Desire Street Ministries in New Orleans and have often spoken of their hope to continue to minister to the poor.  They are taking this next year to invest in this ministry in Malawi and then will settle in the Mississippi Delta where John will continue his medical practice in the heart of the Delta.  Their family is an encouragement to me as I watch them think thoughtfully and biblically about how to live out their calling.  I will personally miss them so much!  If you would like to know more about their ministry this next year, check out johnhjones.googlepages.com.  Join with them in prayer and financial support!

They have told me that they will update all of us and I can’t wait to hear how it is going. I think they are flying out this week- let’s send up prayers for their flight and arrival!
