miles to go…

home again June 5, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — zellner @ 9:04 am

We arrived home today at 3:30 with our new little one, Lucy Elizabeth.  She was born Monday at 11:47 am and she weighed 9 lbs even.  She was 21 inches long and looks a lot like Emma.  She has dark hair and a double chin!  The girls have welcomed her so wonderfully and Olivia is already taking such good care of her.  Cord, on the other hand, has had a slightly harder time.  In the hospital, he wanted to be in the arms of the person who was holding the baby.  But today he did a good job “patting” her gently and then playing normally again on the floor.  I know life has changed because I have begun thinking of time in hour increments- newborns require that obsessive knowledge of what time it is when you feed them or change their diaper and when you will have to do it again.  You are constantly thinking in hours.  We had been in longer time spans- planning Cord’s meals and being thankful he slept through the night.  I guess you can tell someone’s season of life when you know how they view the clock!

Everyone is asleep in our home right now- Cord went to bed at 7:15, the girls went to bed at 8:00 and then I fed Lucy at 8:30 and she cuddled on me and slept.  So peaceful and surprising for the first day home.  Eric and I are off to bed to make sure we sleep too 🙂
