Thanksgiving meal November 26, 2010

Yesterday, we had a great Thanksgiving day at home.  My mom is here, so we worked on the food together.  I made cornbread and mashed potatoes for the first time.  The rest of the menu included green beans, broccoli salad, pineapple delight casserole, sweet potato casserole, and turkey and dressing.  The dressing was a recipe from a friend at church.  It is a crockpot recipe that includes the dressing and chicken.  De-licious!

On a recent visit to my grandmother’s, she gave me a tablecloth.  It was so fun to use it yesterday for our meal.  The china was a combination of some from my dad’s family and some from my mom’s.  I would use it all the time if I weren’t afraid little ones would break every piece.

We had our first kids’ table~ but not a very successful one.  They drifted in every few seconds to say something, ask something, need something, or generally just linger hoping to visit.

We had two special friends join us. Both ladies were a joy and played lots of card games with us. We all went for a walk and talked and shared stories.  It was a great way to spend a beautiful Thanksgiving.

So fun to feel like we were there. What a sweet time to be thankful. Enjoyed knowing your menu and seeing your pretty table setting, plus learning a new use for pumpkin.
